Art Birthday Party

For Addie's 4th birthday party we did an art/paint theme. She loves painting and doing crafts with me so she loved it! We had the party outside on our back porch so the kids could be messy!

The activities included: side walk chalk, painting, hand stamping apron, decorating tails and playing pin the tail on the donkey and decorating cup cakes.

I found this shop on Etsy and downloaded the art party files. It made it really easy to print invitations, the banner and even thank you cards! I made each child a paint bucket with stuff inside for the party favor. There was play dough, a painters hat and a small unfinished wood car with paint.

I was pretty surprised how close all the kids got with their tails. Maybe they could see and they just told me they couldn't. ;)

We ate hot dogs and the kids loved the kool aid and the paint balls (dough nut holes with frosting, recipe here).

Johnny slept through the first half of the party but woke up just in time to eat. He loves to be in the middle of the action with the older kids.

Funny that she did not want any girls there. She was VERY specific about who she wanted to invite. We did invite 2 more kids at the last minute (1 girl!) but they were unable to make it. I think 4 four year olds was good. She had fun and got some great gifts!

Happy birthday Addie!

And what would a party be without a small melt down from the birthday girl?

Last Day of school

I had this great idea of making a banner with my favorite pieces of "art" from Addie's first year of preschool. Unfortunately, the end of the year snuck up on me and I got Strep throat (again), so I was not prepared by the last day of school. I did manage to get a last day of school picture of her and throw together a small banner before I took a nap.

The few pieces I found. I hung the picture of her from the first day of school on the left and the pictures from the last day on the right.

Johnny wanted to get in the picture too. I think he was even saying "cheeeeeese".

And they were dancing. :)

Preschool Program 2011

The week before school got out Addie had her end of the year preschool program. I was curious to see how she was going to do because every time I asked her what songs they were singing she would say "I don't know". She did pretty well, although she did stand there picking her fingers more than I would have liked. The songs were pretty cute! They sang one song for every month they were in school.

As we were getting ready to go to the program, we had a small wardrobe meltdown. She really wanted to wear the fluffy pink skirt with nothing else on her legs. I said she had to wear leggings or pants. 20 minutes of kicking and screaming later we left. She had on the skirt, no leggings or shoes with the intention of sitting in the audience and watching her friends sing. Of course when we got there and her teacher, Mrs. Papen suggested she put the leggings on, she sat right down and put them on and all was well with the world again! Sigh. Addie and I may have some serious issues when she is older because we are both so strong willed.

And of course, the batteries in our camera were dead when we got there, so thank you to our friends for supplying us with these photos. You can see her friends Jack and Micah standing behind her, and her and Jack eating ice cream in the last photo.

Soccer

We signed Addie up for an 8 week soccer class at her preschool. Each class was only 30 minutes long (right before school) and I think she really liked it! I really liked it because I was able to drop her off and the teachers made sure she got from soccer to her classroom giving Johnny an extra 30 minutes to nap. Here are a few photos and videos from the last day.
