Maternity Photos

We had our maternity/family photos done for baby #3! We used the same photographer that we have been using for 5 years. I was worried that since this is the third maternity shoot we are doing with her that it would end up being a lot like the other two. How many different ways can you photograph a pregnant belly right? But I absolutely LOVE these! I think this is my favorite photo shoot she has done for us. The beach was such a great location. It was a little chilly but so pretty! There was a grassy area close by that the kids played in and ate lunch while we were taking pictures that did not include them. We have just over 90 pictures, here are just a few of our faves. Thanks Samantha! We love Park Avenue Photography!

Happy 5th birthday Addie!

Yesterday my baby girl turned 5. Really?! Am I old enough to have a 5 year old, a child headed to kindergarten in the fall? It's a little crazy. At the same time, I love that she is growing up and becoming more independent. Some things about her right now:
-She loves to help me (most of the time!) and is happy to do what I ask her
-She has been eating like a champ and must be growing because all of her clothes are suddenly too small!
-Favorite show: Dinosaur Train
-Favorite Color: Pink
-Favorite book: Paper Bag Princess
-She loves to read and be read to before bed. She absolutely refuses to go to sleep if we don't read to her.
-She is super excited for this baby to come so she can help me out. She is also convinced it's a girl. :)

Her birthday was a super busy day. We started early with our annual pedicures. It's nice to have something to do with just her and not have her little brother as a distraction. Of course she chose pink for her nail color.

At school she was the snack helper. She picked brownies to take. They also sang her happy birthday and gave her a sticker that said "It's my birthday!".

After school I had a chiropractic appointment so she hung out with dad for a few minutes. She got to talk to both Grandmas on the phone so they could tell her happy birthday. As soon as I was done we headed off to Red Robin, our birthday celebration place!

When we got home it was time for presents. She was pretty clear this year on what she wanted. Every time we went to the store she told me the same things. I had to keep reminding her that they were on her birthday list and that she needed to wait. We got her a couple things that were also not on her list and she seemed pretty excited! Except right after she was done opening them all she turned to me and said, "Mom, why didn't you get me more things?". Seriously?!? Are we to that age already? I explained that she is still having a party and that maybe her friends will bring her presents but she needs to be grateful for what she did get.

One thing she really wanted was this Hello Kitty clock. She can't tell time yet, just thought it was cool. Guess we'll have to teach her!

We ordered her the Silverlicious book to complete her collection. I think her face shows her excitement.
She also got some chap stick/lip gloss, wood blocks that make a castle and Gma and Gpa Pedersen got her some ballet clothes for her class that starts next week! We are saving her kid's digital camera for her party.

All day Johnny was singing Happy Birthday. When we tried to get it on camera of course he was not cooperating. This is a short clip of it.

36

So we have this theory. I know it might sound crazy to some people. I think a lot of things I think about pregnancy sound crazy to some people. Some examples: I think women carry boys and girls different (at least I did) and the heart rate at the end of pregnancy can be an indication of whether or not the baby is a boy or girl. Johnny's was down in the 120/130 range, while Addie's was up in the 140/150 range.

So our theory is that my belly measurements (fundal height) only get to 36. I measure 36cm 2 weeks in a row then the baby is born within a few days. This happened with both of my other pregnancies. It could be a coincidence, we are waiting to find out if it's true for a third time! Today I had my 36 week appointment. The heart rate was 140's (maybe a girl?). When she measured my belly she said it was 36. I know this is just a theory but I couldn't help but almost start to panic because if it is true, we could have this baby next weekend! When I reminded my midwife of my 36 idea, she suggested that we measure me again laying flat on my back. This time she got 34.5. I'm not sure I trust this number though because I was laying on my soft bed (this was a home visit) and I was sinking down a little. I think she doesn't want to accept our 36 theory because she is going out of town next week and doesn't want to miss the birth! I wouldn't be surprised if we have a baby in the next 2 weeks. If he/she wants to wait a little longer to arrive that's fine with me too. My mom needs to get here, we are having Addie's birthday party and we want our midwife to be back from vacation! Everyone is voting for July 1 for the birthday right now. :)

Here are my 36 weeks photos:

Flying

Today I did an introduction flight for a potential future student. His wife works with Daniel and she was surprising him with a flight for his birthday. I'd never met the guy before so I was a little nervous about what he would be thinking when he found out a 5'4", 8 month pregnant woman would be taking him flying! He didn't seem to really care, he just wanted to be sure I wasn't going to go in to labor in the air!
Last week I headed out to the airport to do my currency landings. I met Daniel out there after work so he could watch the kids. They were pretty bummed that they didn't get to go with me. I would have loved to take them but it was not a very nice day to be out. And it was an expense I didn't really want to be paying right now! Even today when I picked up Johnny after my flight he was telling me that he wanted to go in an airplane and Addie keeps asking me when she gets to go. I guess after I have the baby we will have to have our annual family flight!
We took these pictures after I was done flying last week.

Fat Lips

It's a sad thing when little kids get hurt. It's really sad when my little snugly man has a rough day and gets hurt twice. He woke up this morning crying and holding his neck. I figured he slept wrong and was in a lot of pain. He kept telling me that "daddy did it". I was really confused until Daniel explained that he went in to check on Johnny early this morning and moved him because he was sleeping on his stomach with his head scrunched in to the corner of the wall.
On to injury number 2. Before bed the kids were playing with a box in our room. Our new bed frame has a wood ledge all the way around. We knew it was just a matter of time before one of the kids hurt themselves on it. Tonight it was Johnny's lip vs. the bed frame. The bed won. Poor kid. I had flash backs to when Addie fell and cut her lip open when she was 2.5 years old.

The sad part: Look at that sad face! And he got blood all over his brand new pajamas.
The good part: He is a momma's boy. That meant all he wanted was to do was snuggle with me. :)

I have to say I do feel a little guilty that he got hurt. Just last week we were talking about our kids injuries at playgroup. I mentioned that Addie fell when she was about Johnny's age and cut her lip pretty bad. We used it as a good excuse to take her pacifier away because it was rubbing on the cut and irritating it. I may have also mentioned that I wished something like that would happen to Johnny so that we could take his pacifier away. I didn't really want him to get hurt! We gave him the pacifier tonight anyway hoping that it would be more painful than soothing but I'm not sure that it worked.

End of the year Preschool Program 2012

Even though Addie has 2 weeks of school left, she had her end of the year program last week. I have to say I am so impressed with how much she has matured over these last two years. At her first program she just stood there. No singing, hardly any hand gestures. She was so shy and unsure of what she was doing. By the end of this year, she was standing in the front row singing, waving her hands and doing all the right motions. Sometimes she seems like she is 8 years old not almost 5! Some parents have said they were sad when their kids finished preschool. I am actually really excited for her to start kindergarten (and to stop making payments to the preschool!).

After the program we got to enjoy some yummy ice cream!!

Baby #3- 32 weeks

 34 weeks!
We had the Warrens over on Memorial Day for a BBQ. Katy and I needed to take another belly picture together. Almost done!

Soccer Shots

I went to one of Addie's soccer classes so that I could get some pictures. She car pools with a friend from school so his mom took them to most of the time. I knew it was going to be hard to tell Johnny he was not allowed to go play with them. I was able to keep him in the stroller for the 30 minutes to snap some photos!

 Warming up.
 Stretching.

They played some kind of game where the coach would grab their ball and they had to stand 'frozen' with it above their head until another child kicked their own ball through their legs.

I know this is a horrible picture, we were running out the door and she REALLY wanted me to take a picture of the medal she got on the last day of classes. She wore it all afternoon/evening. I am so glad she had fun and was really proud of herself!

Finally!!

I know I've mentioned how hard it is to get a good picture of Johnny D. Usually it's impossible. One night after their bath the kids were playing on our bed. He seemed to be in a good mood so I grabbed the camera. Luckily, it happened to be on a good setting. I managed to snap a few great pictures before he started rolling around and stopped being cooperative.
