Doin' the Puyallup 2012

I'm always amazed at how early people start getting ready for the fair. We started noticing the Funtastic trucks rolling in a few weeks ago. Every time we drove past the fair grounds the kids would point out a new ride that was set up or that they saw the roller coaster being tested or the bucket things were hung for the sky ride that goes over the whole fair grounds. Finally, it actually opened and they were soo excited. Addie was a little bummed we didn't go opening day (I usually take the kids because it is free admission before noon but since Addie has school everyday now we didn't get to go!).
Monday afternoon I packed up the kids (and the double stroller, snacks, hats, jackets and sippy cups) and headed over there after school. We walked around and looked at the animals and waited for Daniel to get there. Then they got to go on the rides! Johnny is barely 36" tall so he can go on a few rides but not all of the kid's rides yet. They have their favorite ones that they have to go on every time. The helicopter is usually one of the first ones!

Both kids wanted to go on this bear ride. Johnny was too short so it was just Addie and me! She loved it! We spun it slowly for most of it. I did make it go pretty fast at one point. She was laughing and smiling then after a minute said "ok, let's slow down". I'm glad Daniel doesn't like fair rides because that means I get to go on them with the kids!

In the spring I posted about Addie deciding she wanted to go down the Super Slide all by herself. This time it was Johnny's turn. He really is so small to be doing stuff like this on his own but he did it! I think he was a little freaked out when he started going down the slide because he fell backward and ended up going the whole way down on his back!

Since the Spring fair we have been telling Johnny that he needs to eat his dinner so that he can grow tall enough to go on more rides. His dream came true this time and he got to go in the ball pit. He didn't want to go down the slide that gets you to the ball pit, it took some convincing. After all his hard work to get there, I don't think he enjoyed the balls. At all. So on to the next ride we went!

I have to say, this year I am not super in to the fair. We usually go at least twice but I think this was our one and only time this year. The kids got to go on the rides, we saw some animals and had treats. Maybe I am just too tired and the thought of walking there and back it just too much. There's always another one in the spring!

My Kids

This past week was a bit crazy. It seems like I am just surviving some days. It's not "oh man I have 3 kids and life is crazy" barely surviving. It's "oh man I have 3 kids, we bought a fixer upper house, my daughter just started kindergarten and they want me to fill out papers and make a scrapbook page and if I sit down I might fall asleep" barely surviving. We have fun though. Most of the time.

Some facts about each child this week:
Addie- Loving kindergarten! She always wants to be so helpful with the baby, making dinner and setting the table. Sometimes I look at her and think "I can't possibly have a child this big."
Johnny D- Keeps me on my toes. Just when I think I have found a way to talk to him to end or avoid a melt down of screaming and drooling all over, something changes. The techniques I was using the day before are now out the window and I have to start over. The other day I had Addie and Johnny in our Civic. He can easily reach the inside door handle from his seat in this car. Before it even crossed my mind that he might actually open the door while I was driving, he opened it. In the middle of an intersection! It was one of those times where you just have to laugh.
Diadora- Seriously the best baby. If only we can get her to like the car! We are working on getting her to fall asleep on her own and in her own bed. The other day she fell asleep in the stroller at Zumba. And tonight at Red Robin. Something about the noise? She pretty much sleeps through the night (10ish-5ish), will fall asleep in just a couple of minutes if I snuggle with her and is starting to smile so much!

When we were at Red Robin tonight a lady at a near by table stopped to talk to me as she was getting up to leave. She commented on how well behaved our kids were. This always makes me happy. This is not the first time sometime has said they were well behaved at a restaurant. Of course this is not always the case. There have been plenty of times where someone is screaming and we wonder why we even bothered leaving the house. But tonight her comment made me smile and think, yea my kids are pretty great. :)

2 Months Old

It's hard to believe 2 months has already gone by since this little girly joined our family! She is seriously such a good baby! We all love her to pieces! Addie tells her all the time she loves her and the other day I heard Johnny D go up to her and say "Hey Princess". So sweet! Her little round cheeks are irresistible and she has started to smile more and more. I think the fact that she sleeps pretty well helps make her even cuter and more loveable.
This morning Dia and I had a little photo shoot. She was being very cooperative for once! I even got some pictures of her smiling finally! Here are my favorites. At the very bottom is a collage of a bunch of them because there were just too many cute ones!

First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Addie's first day of kindergarten! We have been looking forward to this day all summer. She has been so bored, I was excited for her to have something to do in the afternoon! I just got her registered at her new school last week so I didn't even know who the teacher was going to be. When I went in to register her the principle was there and gave us a little tour. At least I knew where I was supposed to drop her off!
This morning we went to playgroup. From there we went over to our new house for lunch. I wanted to walk over to the school because there is not a whole lot of parking around the school. I figured we were going to be walking a lot once we move in to the house, we might as well start today! Johnny was pretty tired by the time we got back, I think I'll need to take the double stroller tomorrow!

Listening to the teacher give instructions. Poor thing kept saying her back pack was too heavy! It's as big as she is!

There were a couple kids crying when it was time for the parents to leave. I felt bad for them, it was sad! Addie was all set and barely wanted to say bye! When I got home, the 2 little kids took naps and I had a minute to myself. I wish I could say I did something productive but that just wasn't the case! She came home pretty happy and said she had a good day. I love when she comes home and wants to tell me all about what she did and the small details that are important to her like how the drinking fountain is connected to the sink in her classroom. I know in a few more years when I ask her how her day was all I will get is a short "fine". I think she is going to love her class! And I think I am going to love my quiet afternoons (as long as Johnny D continues to nap!).

New Adventure

I am a bit late posting this but we had some good news on August 17. We officially became home owners! It was quite a process, much more confusion than I thought buying a home should be.
This is definitely not my dream home that I posted about here but it will be fantastic once it's fixed up! In the past few months we had looked at 7 or 8 houses. We have a list of things we were really looking for. Most of the houses had 6 or 7 of the 10 things. This one has 8. We knew we were not going to find one that had everything (the dream house did have 9 of 10!). We are going to have a yard with a huge garden, 2550 sq. (plus an unfinished attic) to fill, a shop and a rec. room.
Here are a few pictures from the listing (these were not taken with our furniture in the rooms!):

We have decided to start a blog about the renovations. It's a 100 year old house so it's going to take a lot of work! I'm sure the projects will never end but we are excited to start this adventure!
Here is the new blog, I'll be posting more updates on the house there than on here most likely!
