Turkey Trot

Thanksgiving morning my friend and I ran the Tacoma Turkey Trot. It was fun. And cold. I trained for 6 weeks, she didn't train at all. She finished 2 minutes after me. Not fair. I don't know exactly what my time was because there was some miscommunication about when the race was supposed to start. There was still a long line of people waiting to use the port a potties before it started so they decided to post pone the start 10 minutes. That's what they announced to us. Apparently the person holding the little gun thing that signals it has started didn't get the memo because about 30 seconds after the announcement the clock started! I think I finished in about 35 minutes. Not bad, not great. There were more hills than I thought and my music wasn't working on my phone. I can't run without music!

Daniel got the kids up and ready to watch me cross the finish line. I was pretty impressed because it was early (for us!) and it takes a lot of work to get everyone packed up and dressed warm to go to something like this. He said he was there for only about 5 minutes before I ran by!

Right before the race I saw Addie's teacher, Mrs. Cottle, with her family. At one point I passed her two daughters as one was saying how much she didn't care about running! Ha! Now Mrs. Cottle and I have something to talk about and I think I scored some points with her! (The beginning of the school year was rough and I don't know if she liked me much!).

Waving to my kiddos!

After the race in my huge free shirt!

I guess Daniel told them if they were good they could have a 'treat' in the car. Pop Tarts on the way home!

Skateboarding

Since Johnny's birthday it hasn't been very warm. I usually don't feel like bundling up all three kids to go outside. Johnny really wanted to test out the new skateboard and one morning we had nothing to do, so we went outside!

Heading out!

He's working on riding on it standing up, for now this is how he rides.

Stopping to check out some rocks!

Videos of the kids:
(Sorry, they are a bit shaky. I had Dia in the carrier and she is wiggly!)

Pink Dress

A few Sundays ago I dressed Diadora for church before the other 2 kids were dressed (although I am not sure why Johnny is in his underwear!). This pink dress is what Addie wore for her first Thanksgiving. I wanted to have a little photo shoot with her. Addie and Johnny wanted to join in. :)

Here are my two girls side by side:
When I showed Daniel this picture he couldn't tell them apart. I think they look very different!

3 years old

On Johnny D's birthday we had a lot planned! Daniel only worked a half day. When he got home we went to Addie's parent-teacher conference then we were off the the movies! We saw Wreck it Ralph. I thought it was really cute, the kids were scared. They are not fans of the loud theater sound. Johnny spent the whole time on Daniel's lap and Dia took a short nap!
After the movie we headed over to our favorite birthday restaurant, Red Robin! Sorry, no pictures. We didn't take the camera. :(
We had church activities that night so we let Johnny open his remaining gifts earlier in the day.

This is the best 'smile' face I can get from this kid.

Addie insisted on getting him a present. We stood forever in the aisles of Fred Meyer's toy section looking for the perfect gift. I suggested several things that I thought he would love (and were in my price range!) but she dismissed all of them. In the end she picked a bath toy that you can send your cars down.

Our big present for him this year was a skateboard! I know, what are we thinking?!?! He was sooo excited! I'm glad we have insurance!

He had to test it out right away (only on the kitchen floor of course!).

I love this picture. He looks so sweet. Maybe on the days when he is driving me crazy and destroying everything I should look at this and be reminded that there is sweetness in there.:)

We had a great day celebrating, can't believe he is 3! Happy birthday little man!

Super Hero Party

I'm back to blogging! I am way behind! Blogger decided they were going to start charging people a monthly fee for their blogs when they ran out of 'space'. Daniel did not want me to pay the $3 fee (we are so cheap!) and I did not want to start a whole new blog, so...after some deleting and trying a few things, here I am! I am hoping I have at least enough space to finish blogging through the end of the year!

Let's go back to the beginning of November. Johnny D had a Super Hero party for his third birthday. After watching his sister have her themed parties he knew exactly what he wanted and how it all worked. The games, food, cake, gifts...etc.

I found a lot of the decor at the dollar store. We had super hero coloring pages out on the table for the kids to color.

I made a cute bunting (banner?) from a comic book that I cut. I felt bad buying a new one from the grocery store knowing that I was just going to cut it up. I couldn't find a used comic book store anywhere!

He's waiting for his guests to arrive. :)

It wouldn't be complete without some 'bang' 'pow' and 'bam' signs!

One thing he requested was that there be 'guys' on top of the cake. I think he was happy with it!

Showing me his best Batman faces.

Snacks!

On the invitation it said to wear costumes, capes or super hero stuff.

I was loving all the different capes!

Also from the dollar store, DC Friends puzzles.

When it came time to open the presents he was in awe with all of them. Everyone wanted to open them and start playing!

He has seriously played with his super heroes non stop since he got them. Best presents ever!

The gang.
