The adventures we have...

What a day today turned out to be! I knew I was asking for a tiring day when I planned on running a bunch of errands. In the morning we went to turn in the keys at the apartment, bought some produce at the fruit stand and went to Fred Meyer. After Addie's nap we went to the dollar store and then on to Walmart. It all went down hill from there...

Addie was fussing at me the whole time we were shopping, she had had enough. When we got out to the car I was busy trying to open a box of crackers to get her to stop whining at me, I dropped the keys in the plastic bag that I pulled the crackers out of, put the crackers in the diaper bag, placed the plastic bag in the trunk and shut it. Just as I heard the trunk latch, I realized what I had just done. Usually I unlock the car doors right after I open the trunk, but of course not today. This all happened at about 5:15 pm.

Locking the keys in the car is not a new thing for me, but I haven't done it since I had Addie. Daniel wasn't going to be home until late, he started taking a class tonight in Renton that ends at 9:30. Perfect. Thank goodness for 411. I found a lock smith that took 30 minutes to call and tell me he was on his way and it would be 25 minutes before he would get there, 25 minutes turned into 40. During that time we walked around Pets Mart looking at the cats, fish and birds, went back in Walmart and had a cheeseburger and fries at the McDonald's. Finally he arrived and opened the door, they don't open the trunk. Addie starts screaming because the alarm is going off but I can't hold her because I am filing out the silly form, the guy tried to pull the trunk release inside the car...and nothing! The stupid trunk has issues. I've had problems with it not opening before which results in me climbing in to the trunk from the back seat and pulling the emergency lever inside (it's a good idea to know where this is just in case you ever get stuffed inside your own trunk). I think the lock smith felt bad for me because he moved the big box that I had on the back seat and climbed into the trunk himself to open it! Of course the alarm is still going off, Addie is still screaming, people in the parking lot are looking at me and by now a man has come over to see if everything is OK. After we found the bag with the keys and turned the alarm off it was time to pay the guy. I started to pull out my credit card, everyone takes credit cards right? No. Apparently their credit card machine was not working, so he said. I had to walk back in to Walmart for the third time, take $150 out of my checking account and hand it to the man. Seriously, $150? I remember it being like $40. By 7:20 we were in the car and on our way home.

She was ready for bed by the time we got home and I am exhausted. So much for eating healthy and sticking to a budget! While I was putting the groceries away, I was watching her walk around babbling. It made me smile and for a minute all of the frustrations of the day were gone. Aren't those wings the cutest things? What a doll...

New Beginnings...

Now that we are almost settled in our new place, I feel like it is a chance to reorganize and in a way, start over. One positive thing about moving is that you have the opportunity to redecorate, reorganize and rearrange. At this point that is a little over whelming because I have lots of blank wall space staring at me and several windows screaming for some sort of window treatment. But that's the fun of moving.

As of yesterday, I am back on my high protein, low sugar diet. I haven't been feeling very great lately and I am positive it's because I haven't been eating well. It was great to splurge while you were here mom, but now it's back to the Francis diet! It's difficult to have an intolerance to wheat and sugar because those 2 ingredients are in just about everything! I don't exclude them but I try my best not to eat a lot. I will be keeping track of everything I eat as well as the grams of protein and sugar. It's easier to pass up that cookie when I see I am already over my 25 grams of sugar limit for the day! Hopefully I will be more energized, less tired and headache free soon!

Another thing we are starting tomorrow, Oct. 1, is a new budget. We have had one since we got married but it doesn't seem to be working for us anymore. So we revised it. We cut out most of our unnecessary expenses, I gave myself a 'craft' budget :( and I am cooking healthy, but inexpensive meals. Anyone have any ideas for good food? Wish us luck on sticking to this one!

I try not to write such boring posts, but this is what we have been up to lately. Oh, and we got my craft/sewing tables set up last night! Can't wait to get to work, so exciting.

Seattle Underground Tour

My mom was here for about 10 days to help us pack/move/clean/unpack. We didn't get out to do very many fun things, one thing we did do was the Underground Tour in Seattle. I was a little nervous because it was a 90 minute tour and Addie would not be able to walk around. I wore her in my carrier the whole time and she did great. There were moments of whining, but they didn't kick us out!

The tour was full of interesting information. I don't think many people know that there is an 'underground' to Seattle. Much of the city burnt down years ago and so they rebuilt on top of it. We saw some cool things.

After that we had to go to the chocolate factory across the street. Addie was busy banging her hands on the glass cases holding the chocolates, I turned around for one minute then she was gone! The door was open and the street was super busy right outside. I frantically ran outside looking for her and this guy was pointing around the corner at her. I almost had a heart attack! Of course she thought it was pretty funny!

They had a baby room for us to hang out in for the first 20 minutes, she had a chance to get some of her energy out before she went in the carrier.

This used to be the first floor of one of the buildings. You can see what used to be the store front windows.

There were a few toilets down there that had these cool decorations on them. Kind of looks cool, but kind of weird that the inside is decorated too.

I think she is just about too big for me to be wearing her anymore!

The joys of moving...

Well we are 90% moved in to our new place. We still have a few things over at the apartment and it needs to be cleaned, but tonight will be the first night we sleep in our new house! We will see how it goes, it's a little creepy because it's so big!

Moving out of the apartment was not too bad, most of the furniture fit OK. Moving in to the new place was a bit harder. Apparently, people and their things were a lot smaller back in 1900. The doorways are narrower so the guys had a hard time getting some of the furniture in. All of the guys were so tired after moving everything up the steep stairs. The cal-king mattress going up the stairs was the best part. My mom and I wanted to video tape it just in case it was really funny. It actually didn't take very long, just a lot of muscle and mattress squishing.

Now the fun part of unpacking and re-decorating begins, more pictures to follow...

Hopefully I won't be looking at this for long...

Daniel made sure the room with the TV was the first to get set up and somewhat organized. I am so excited for my new couch and chair!

My mom took this video while they were trying to get the mattress upstairs.

Fun Weekend

We had a busy, exhausting but fun weekend! It seems like we haven't really done much this summer so this weekend we finally got out of town for a couple of days. Thursday Daniel and I went to see Phantom of the Opera in Seattle. We dropped Addie off with a friend and we had a nice afternoon together followed by dinner without a noisy 1 year old! The show was great and I always love an excuse to eat at P.F. Changs!
Friday we headed to Chelan,WA. Every year Daniel's company hosts a golf tournament there. All the employees and their families stay at this hotel right on Lake Chelen. The weather couldn't have been nicer and we all had a great time.

We don't get pictures of just the 2 of us very often...not sure why I look so scared. The Chandelier is behind us but you can't really see it!

Addie was not a fan of the sand. This lasted for about 2 minutes then she was done.

She was much happier on the towel watching the ducks walk by.

Saturday morning when Addie woke up she was burning up with a fever. At first I thought maybe she was sick but she kept putting her finger in her mouth and chewing on it so I figured she was teething. All night she had to be sitting with me with her head on me. It was so sweet, but I'm glad it only lasted a day! Her sad face was breaking my heart. :(

It's coming...

My favorite time of the year!! I love, love, love fall.
Things I love about fall:
1. Changing leaves
2. Cool enough to wear a sweater but not too cold you have to bundle up
3. Sweaters! You can never have too many...
4. Halloween
5. My birthday
6. Back to school shopping. I know I am not in school any more, but I still love to walk down the school supply isles at the store looking at all of the fun stuff. Can't wait until I can take Addie back to school shopping!
7. Thanksgiving...
8. The yummy food you eat on Thanksgiving
9. The idea that Christmas is coming and we get to go home soon and spend it with family
10. You have a great excuse to dress your kids up and take lots of silly pictures. I added some from last year and I fully intend on finding a pumpkin but enough to put her in this year.
11. All of the fun decorations you get to put out for the next 3 months!

Addie's 1 year Pictures

These were taken awhile ago and I couldn't figure out how to get them all on here, so here they are...

Playing with Dad...

I think a child's smile and laughter are 2 of the most infectious and joyous things in this life...
(the video is a little dark because out apartment is like a cave!)

Project #2

Well, I completed my first blanket using my sewing machine. I wanted to make one for Addie, but it turned out pretty cute, I might just have to make one for myself! It wasn't super difficult and I actually didn't have to ask anyone for help, thanks to Corrina on Expert Village.com. I started it when Addie went down for her first nap, worked diligently on it, and finished it in one day! I think she likes it...

You can actually click on these pictures and make them bigger! :)
