4th of July Camping part 3

Saturday morning (the 4th) I woke up early to run a 5k with some of the other ladies (and 1 guy) in our group! I wasn't really training before this so we just did it for fun. I don't even remember my time. We didn't know anything about the course but we soon realized that it was no where near flat! There were some killer hills! It started and ended by the water and was so pretty! Afterwards, our family walked around the little farmers market right there. Johnny convinced us to buy him a homemade marshmallow shooter! Boys!

Later in the afternoon, after we showered and had lunch, it was time to head over to the parade! We didn't really know where we were going and it ended up taking us longer to get there so we almost missed it. The kids were riding their bikes in the parade but since we got there just in time for it to start they didn't get to decorate their bikes. They are such troopers and were just happy to be in a parade! Did I mention it was HOT!?

They ride with their friends Blake and Ali!

Around dinner time we packed up and headed to the beach to watch the fire works! This was nuts! People were lighting off huge fire works all over the beach. The actual fire work show didn't start until the sun was down but we got to see them for hours before that! The kids actually played in the water and had such a good time! We had hot dogs for dinner and kept it pretty simple. I for one am not a fan of the beach. Especially on a super crowded day. The sand. It gets everywhere!! Everyone had a good time and got our fill of fireworks for the year.

Can you tell how excited Daniel is to lug all of that stuff from the car to the beach? It was a trek for sure!! And this was after the farmers market (5k for me) and the parade. We were beat!

I can't believe people were camping down there in the sand. I would be so afraid that something would catch on fire! We found a spot up on a hill so we were not down in the craziness!

This picture cracks us up. She kept trying to get in to the graham crackers. I kept telling her no and putting them away. I thought I had put them high enough so they were out of her reach. Somehow they ended up down towards the ground. Daniel happened to walk over and found her like this! Her smile was so funny, she was sooo proud of herself! Just sitting there eating the whole package!!

Sunday we took our time eating breakfast and packing up. We let the kids play and get their energy out before our 3 hour car ride back home. It's always so nice to get home and have a hot shower and your own bed!

Overall it was such a fun trip! Will we do it again? Maybe not. Not at the beach anyway. :)
